High on the ridge of the Thuringian Forest, Oberhof developed a strong tradition of winter sport and active tourism. Biathlon, luge, cross-country and ski-jumping venues form part of its landscape.

From here the Rennsteig leads towards the region's highest summits. The Schneekopf route, viewpoints and mountain botanical garden show that Oberhof is compelling beyond the snow season.
